whitelist with password protected pages

Under “brute force” if I use log-in white list with my ip address, other people can’t access a password protected page from other ip addresses. Under the cookie based tab I checked “My Site Has Posts Or Pages Which Are Password Protected:”, but no access is granted to a password protected page.
