white screen when trying to open staging site

    When I create a staging site and attempt to open it, I get either the white screen of death or a critical error message.

    I tried adding the error log code to my wp-config file but no log was created. I tried to have it display on screen but no error showed and I researched my host (Dreamhost) and when to were error logs are supposed to be but there was no error shown. Obviously there is an error somewhere.

    What do I need to do next?

    Hi @sallymander
    Please ensure you enabled WP_DEBUG mode on the “staging site’s” wp-config.php file, not on the live site’s. You can follow this guide to do that.

    The generated debug.log file should be located in (/staging-site’s-directory/wp-content/debug.log).

    If you still can’t get the error log generated this way, share with us your site’s system information from (WP STAGING > System Info) via this form and we will help you further from there.
