This is the second Web Story that is doing this now, but after I publish the story it only navigates to a blank white screen. When I try to revert it back to a draft and preview the stories, it is also a blank white screen. I have many other stories that do not have this issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @nickilodom thanks for opening the topic I’d be happy to help you with your issue.

It looks like the error may be as a result of no <!DOCTYPE html> added. This is a requirement for AMP URLs, with all stories built using AMP components. This could be as a result of a plugin conflict.

Would you please be able to provide your Site Health information or privately via this form.

With this information I can check to see if anything stands out and assist you further.

@nickilodom As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!

Hi, I thought I sent the form over a week ago, but I just submitted it again. Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help, I still have two Web Stories that are showing the same error.

@nickilodom Apologies for the delay on this one. I can see the information you have provided and that your stories still have the same validation errors.

This may be the result of a plugin or theme conflict so to check this could you please follow the steps below and let me know how it goes.

Use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    • Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if you still get the issue.
    • Enable plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    • Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!

Hi, I’m sorry, I’m responding in the emails, I guess they are not going through.
I have tried the steps above, ran the health check and troubleshooting mode, then enabled the web stories plugin as well as all plugins slowly after that, but still, the same two stories are showing blank white when I try to view them. Within the editing dashboard they look fine though. One story was giving more of a specific error about compatibility but it does not say what exactly other than it contains errors that could affect it getting discovered on Google.. I can send the screenshot of the error to you.

But at this time the two stories are still showing up blank white when they are published.

@nickilodom you will need to reply via the forum for the replies to come through. Thank you for trying the steps above and sorry to hear that you are still having this problem.

If you could send a screenshot of the error you are referring to that would be very helpful. Could I also ask who your hosting provider is and what plan you are on?

Have you also tried reaching out to your hosting provider as this could be the result of a block on the hosts side so it would be worth checking that with them.

Where should I send the image? I don’t see an option to attach one here.
I use Siteground, on the GrowBig plan

@nickilodom Hello, you can use services like JumpShare, Imgur, or Google Drive to share.

Could you try to edit those two (broken) stories in the editor and click “Update” without making any changes, then check if the issue subsides?

Has something changed between the working story vs. the first broken one?

Did you use a default template or did you create a new story?

    (@nickilodom)

    Hello Luckyna,

I used default templates for both of the stories that are not working. The two stories that aren’t working were made in different months and I have created stories around them that have worked fine. The only difference might be I have video I have used within these stories that are not working (although I also have stories that are working that have video in them too..) that may be causing something to not work properly?

I have tried the “update” within the editor and they still remain blank when I try to view them. I will send the screen shot link via Google Drive shortly.

@nickilodom Thanks for providing the information. If you remove the videos you mentioned from the stories that are not working and publish your stories once more does that make any difference? This will then tell us if there is an issue with the video files or perhaps the upload process for them.

@nickilodom Checking in here –?have you had a chance to try removing the videos that aren’t working and republishing?

I actually went back through one of the stories and I had already taken out the video, thinking that was the issue, and unfortunately it was not. It is still blank when I try to preview, or publish and follow the link.

Any other suggestions? I am completely stumped and have these full stories completed.

@nickilodom Thanks for hanging in there and working through these troubleshooting steps. Could you try a few more things?

    1. Could you please try flushing your permalink settings by going to WordPress Settings > Permalinks and clicking on the ‘Save Changes’ button?

    2. Are you able to safely disable/ deactivate your theme temporarily to see if the issue subsides?

    3. Were these stories imported from somewhere? What happens if you duplicate then republish the stories?

    Thread Starter nickilodom

    (@nickilodom)

    Hello,

thank you for bearing with mw through this. I have flushed permalinks and both stories still show as blank when I preview before publishing and after publishing and attempting to view.

Stories were not imported, they were created within the Stories dashboard from templates, two different types of templates. Tried to duplicate and publish, still did not fix it. I also removed the videos all together and tried to view and publish and view, still remains blank white screen. ??

I honestly don’t know if I could safely deactivate it, kind of nervous to try it as I am still learning the ins and outs of WordPress and working with Genesis themes
