Hi, I just got a white screen on new installation.

I was thinking of letting it generate wp-config.php automatically, and when I went to /wp-admin/install.php it offered to create one for me, as expected. But when I saw that it said ‘safer’ to do it manually, I decided to do it that way.

After I had created and uploaded wp-config.php, then I got the white screen when I tried to install.

I changed WP_DEBUG from false to true, but still got the white screen.

I am not sure how to see my database password on cpanel to double check it.

I have done a few installations before without any problem. I have two other wordpress installations running OK on the same server.

Would appreciate any help or advice,

    Andrew

  • 1, Could you send me a link and if possible login details, I will figure out for you.
    2, Send a host link.
3, Try remove completely wordpress with database and try from cPanel SimpleScript

@jessy Marco: Please stop asking posters for their login details. We do not allow that kind of thing on these forums.

Thanks, esmi, I thought that was rather peculiar. And thanks, Jessy, if you were genuinely trying to help.

@andrew Chapman: do you still have a problem with your new install?

Yes, I was planning to start over again, including deleting the database at the server.

Before you do, try checking your site’s error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

Thanks, I will ask them. Andrew

@esmi: I am really apologizing for that. No problem. I just want to quickly solve the problem for that. [this content was moderated]

@andrew Chapman: If you are still in trouble, just let me know.

Thanks, esmi, my hosts had a look at the logs, found a syntax problem in wp-config.php (they didn’t say what) and sorted it out for me.
