White Screen on Activate

    Hi,

    I have just inherited this site and whilst trying to install and activate Wordfence along with update and deactivate various plugins I am just getting a white screen on the back end. Any ideas? White screen comes when I try to download the htaccess file amoung other things

    Hi @nige-mcilwaine, thanks for reaching out.

    If reinstalling the plugin again (to rule out a corrupted install) doesn’t make any difference, there could be a plugin conflict preventing the download .htaccess button from working as intended. Usually, JavaScript is affected in this scenario so our pages or modal windows could be failing to trigger functions properly.

    You can test for a conflict by disabling all plugins except Wordfence, along with reverting to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Three. If things seem to work fine under these conditions, re-enable your theme and other plugins one-by-one until you start to see problems again.

    If the problems persist when Wordfence is the only enabled plugin, let me know,
