• Hello All,

I am a volunteer for a not for profit organisation and was asked to attempt to to update their website – I have never used wordpress before and through tutorials and a little help from friends I was working my way through it – but I was just making a small change to a .php file and when I hit update the screen went white and I have lost everything. I do not know who hosts our website and I do not have access to the Cpanel – can anyone help me get my website back – please!!!

    Thanks Kings

Was it a WP core file, a theme file, or a plugin file?

try replacing that .php file with an unedited file either from your backup or from a fresh download

    Thanks Tara,

I was editing a Header .php file, but not the proper one, another one that adds Social Media buttons to the top right hand side of the Header Bar – I tried to add an extra Social Media button but failed.

I am unable to unedit the file or replace with a fresh copy as the only access I have the webpage and WordPress was via the internet and now I can not log onto the WordPress site anymore to replace anything. I do not have WordPress, FTP or access to the CPanel – I was only editing through backdoor access.

Would appreciate any help you can give.

    Cheers Kings
