    Hi there,

I’m having trouble logging into the back end of my site and just get a white screen. The front end seems fine but when I visit https://thehappykamper.com/wp-admin/, I get the white screen (no error messages just blank). I can also access https://thehappykamper.com/wp-login/ but it doesn’t seem to recognise my username/password saved in my keychain.

    I’ve tried:
    – renaming the plugin and theme files over FTP to disable them and see if those were causing the issue
    – reinstalling the wp-admin and wp-includes folders over FTP
    – Looking at the error messages from debugging the wp-admin page which shows these two:

    1. Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/p3pnexwpnas05_data02/46/2467246/html/wp-config.php:1) in?/home/content/p3pnexwpnas05_data02/46/2467246/html/wp-includes/pluggable.php?on line?1219
    2. Notice: register_sidebar was called?incorrectly. No?id?was set in the arguments array for the “Footer Wide” sidebar. Defaulting to “sidebar-10”. Manually set the?id?to “sidebar-10” to silence this notice and keep existing sidebar content. Please see?Debugging in WordPress?for more information. (This message was added in version 4.2.0.) in?/home/content/p3pnexwpnas05_data02/46/2467246/html/wp-includes/functions.php?on line?4161

I had a look through the wp-config file as I’ve read elsewhere about spaces causing issues but can’t immediately see anything wrong. I’d be so grateful for any help you can offer! I’ve been at it all day and haven’t made any progress on getting into my site.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you @t-p, I’ve had a look at the link you sent and the files mentioned in the header error message. There was no white space or anything that obviously needed to be changed in the files so I’m at a loss for what to do next.

Would any content from the files help? Let me know if there’s any more info that would be helpful to you!

    Appreciate your advice! Thanks

    Hi there,

I’ve been tinkering and have managed to solve the issue! So I’m sharing how I did it here in case others have the same problem:

    1. Downloaded my wp-config.php file from the FTP
    2. Resaved this as UTF-8 format (not UTF-8 BOM / not UTF-8 no BOM)
    3. Uploaded file to FTP

Done… I’m not quite sure how this issue arose in the first place as I hadn’t been fiddling with anything but I’m just happy to have access now!

Thanks to @t-p for the assistance.

    Best wishes
    Kam

Glad you got it sorted ??

Saving the WP-CONFIG as UTF8 worked for me as well, thank you.

Resaved this as UTF-8 format (not UTF-8 BOM / not UTF-8 no BOM)

No BOM would be the correct choice here. You cannot have byte order markers in a PHP file.
