White Screen and Error Message

    I’ve tried Mozilla and Chrome. I cannot access the dashboard or the site in any way. The result alternates between a white screen and this message:

    The website encountered an error while retrieving https://www.vintagegypsylife.com/wp-admin/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
    HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

    If anyone can help me fix this I would be very grateful.

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Hi Esmi,
    Upgrading and synchronizing the new WordPress version with my server finally made the difference… it’s a ‘learn-as-I-go’ process for me lol. I appreciate your fast reply!
