White Screen After Admin Login

  • Same issue as described here, just fours years newer.

    When I go to the admin page for our website, mediabreach.com, I provide my credentials and click Log In and it goes to a white page. Same things happens for a non-Admin user account. The reader end of the site works without issue (with the exception of some bare HTML I left in the last two posts due to laziness).

    Our last post was this past Monday for our podcast everything was working fine. I’ve tried disabling plugins but the issue remains. I also tried removing the theme and that just results in the site not loading. I can’t figure out how to change to the default theme.

    I’ve sat here for well over an hour and scoured the forums with no results. Running the latest WP version, 3.5.1. Nothing was changed.

    Also, I had a plugin that backed up our database weekly but it ceased functioning, unbeknownst to me, last October. We’ve had about 2 dozen posts since then so I’m not too happy to back up to that one if I can avoid it. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Just rename your plugins folder (add -bak) and see if it helps.

    Can you login to your site? If so also try if deleting the backup plugin helps.

    Backup everything including your database before trying anything.

    I’ve tried renaming the plugins folder (added .hold) and I still can’t log in. Also tried changing the name of my theme’s folder (suffusion. added .old) and no dice.

    btw, really appreciate the quick reply there, I’m so lost here ??

    Now try to install WordPress manually except wp-content.

    How do I do that? I assume I download the wp-content folder but how can I initiate the manual reinstall?

    Delete the existing WP files (except wp-content) and using FTP or cpanel upload files to their locations.
