White background when linking from one page to another

Hi,

Although this is not a major issue I would like to finally get to the bottom of it…

When you click on any menu item or link on my website a white background appears for a second or two until the new page is displayed, which stands out because the main background is dark grey and page colour mid grey.

I have noticed that this hardly, if ever, happens on other websites -the dark background remains ‘static’ when navigating between pages.

My website was not built using Flash and page load times are pretty fast…

Can anyone suggest any reason for this?
