    Hi there,

    Issue:
whenever I tried to update any page of my site/blog it is redirected to wp-admin/post.php which shows 404 page.
for example:- the url of page while updating:
    https://example.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=165&action=edit
After clicking this page must be return back to the same url with a update message but instead of that it is redirecting to following url with 404 error:
    https://example.com/wp-admin/post.php

    wordpress:
    4.8.2
    Theme:
    Midway 3.8.

I am using this theme on 2 of my sites and got the same issue.
This happened only after latest upate which is 4.8.2 and before that
    everything was fine.

kindly help me with this problem
    Thanks.

  • Hello, iwebservice786, & welcome. Please try logging into your dashboard & changing to a default theme (they begin w/the word ‘twenty’), & then try to update again. If this solves the problem, then the theme is at fault, & you’ll either need to update it or find a different theme. It does appear that the latest version is 3.11.

It could also be that there is a conflict between your theme & a plugin you’re running that could also cause this problem. Thus, you may wish to disable your plugins and try the update–if that works, then there’s a conflict between your theme & 1 of your plugins.

Sometimes it’s helpful in these cases to open your wp-config.php, either via your hosting provider’s file manager or an FTP client & change wp_debug from ‘false’ to ‘true’. This is a security risk, so please change it back once you’ve obtained the information you need, but this will often show error messages on the site which reveal where the problem lies.

Please let us know whether this helped or if you have further questions.

The issue was with permalinks and I found the solution here:
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-wordpress-posts-returning-404-error/

    This was my actual concern.
    Thanks anyways.
