I have been using WordPress for many years and have never before experienced this issue that has been happening to me recently! Please bear in mind that I have had a stroke and cannot always remember the correct terms for things, but I will try to explain clearly.

Typing into my new post, then I try to delete an error or backspace to delete it, or try to cut & copy text. Then the whole section or paragraph just disappears. I can use the arrow at the top to restore the post, but it happens so often that it’s becoming a real headache!

The other scenario is that I might try to add in a new block, but the previous one at the bottom of my post just freezes and nothing I do will bring up the + sign or the “Type / to choose a block”. This all used to work really brilliantly for me, which is why I have been using WordPress for so long.

    Thank you!

    Hello @annerobinson

I’m sorry to hear your recent experience with the block editor. Was there any events that happened before this issue appeared? Like updated a plugin or the theme?

Hi Jayson @jaygumanid , sorry, I can’t remember because this started a while ago and has recently got worse, but I don’t think so. I don’t use any plugin and I have an old theme. Could the age of the theme be causing this?

Just a quick update. I have a little (tiny really) knowledge of HTML from a long time ago. So I looked at the post in the HTML editor.

Earlier this morning I tried to remove an extra blank space between two paragraphs, using the Classic Editor. When I used backspace, the whole of that block disappeared and I had to recover it. Using the HTML editor, I saw that the paragraph after the extra blank line that I was trying to remove had some extra code with something like <p span> (plus more code that I can’t remember). When I removed that short line of HTML, the block was back to normal.

I hope that this is useful information. If/when this happens again I will take a screenshot of the code.

    Many thanks

    Jayson

Hello @annerobinson sounds like you got it fixed by removing extra attributes to your html code. Is that right?

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @jaygumanid I solved the issue that one time. Sadly the overall problem is still the same.

Hello @annerobinson sorry to hear the issue still persists. I can see you are using CoBlocks, are you using it frequently? Was it up to date?

If you could send a screenshot of the issue, it would be very helpful.

Hi @jaygumanid sorry, I don’t know what CoBlocks is. I edit my blog on an iPad via Safari, if that helps. Thank you.
