Which theme?? Genesis Framework??

    Hi, help! I’m stuck…

    I want to put together a website for my business, we install smart home systems (multi room music, heating, lighting security systems) and the big USP is controlling these systems from iPhone and iPad.
    I need to choose a theme/framework that is responsive (automatically adjusts itself to all devices/browsers?), best for SEO and one that visually fits the bill for my type of business.
    I’ve been looking at the StudioPress Genesis Themes, which look like they might be a safe bet? then started looking at which theme to choose which is where I really hit the wall. I’m terrible with visuals, I never get involved with choosing wallpaper, carpets etc….

    Any suggestions, please???

    @wyerstuff, Genesis themes are great if you are comfortable with techie stuff, or if you will be using one of the themes out of the box. We’ve used both Genesis and Emil’s Responsive theme and both are excellent – but for very different purposes and use cases. Emil’s Responsive theme is pretty easy to figure out and adopt (once you know the basics of WordPress at least); whereas Genesis allows you to — potentially — do a helluva lot more, however it has a very steep learning curve IMO if you need to make changes to the look-and-feel of your site.

    Also note that not all of the Genesis themes are responsive. I think you’re smart to have that as a key criteria for your site, given how much mobile/tablet stuff is growing.

    Anyway just my $0.02 as someone who’s recently been diving into WP and has gone in both directions that you’re considering.

    @wyerstuff — I couldn’t agree more with @lightenup. Genesis is a great theme framework, but if you want to make lots of customizations, you’ll probably find yourself knee-deep in code.

    I recommend you check out Headway. It uses a visual editor so you can customize fonts, colors, etc. without diving into CSS. As well, Headway is drag-and-drop, so changing the layout is easy too. And, as of the latest version, it’s responsive.

    I’ve also heard great things about Responsive; will be testing it myself in the next couple of weeks.

    Thanks for the replies guys, that helped a lot.
    I have gone ahead with Genesis and the studiopress Driskill responsive theme. Looks like it,s the way to go now Google have today said that Responsive is their recommended method for mobile seo.
