• Hi, I’m building a webshop in Italy, we want to add two options to the checkout page: pay with PayPal and pay with credit card. I first tried to make it work with PayPal Website Payments pro, but it didn’t work, in your forum I read this option is not available outside the US, UK or Canada. What should I do now, is there anything left I can do? I tried now to choose PayPal Payments Pro 2.0 as an option and ‘pay with credit card’ is now visible at my checkout page, but does it really work? Already many thanks.

P.s. I tried to test PayPal Payments Pro 2.0 in the Sandbox mode but I get this error:

    Payment error: 26-Invalid vendor account

Also it’s unclear to me what I have to fill in at Sandbox PayPal Vendor..

I have no idea if this option will work for me. Can you please clarify if this plugin is usefull outside the UK, US or Canada? Thanks.

Unfortunately direct credit card processing is not available in Italy. Your only option will be to use Express checkout with guest checkout enabled. That will always redirect through PayPal but will provide the option to pay with a credit card if you don’t have a PayPal account.

    Hi Angelleye,

Thank you very much for your fast response.

If I do want to let the client choose on my website between credit card and PayPal, is there any other plugin I can use or a paid solution? I’ve heard about Stripe, but to me it doesn’t make sense to have both PayPal and Stripe, since I’m already using PayPal..

I just want to make clear on my site that the client has the option to pay with credit card, in PayPal this option is kinda hidden..

If you have any tips I would highly appreciate.

    Thankyou.

P.s. it’s not a problem if the client gets redirected to PayPal, but I want to make the two options clear on my site..

PayPal only supports direct credit card processing in the US, UK, and Canada. In Italy your only option is going to be Express Checkout.

Again, though, if you configure the settings for guest checkout and you should get what you’re after.

Thanks. I must have been blinded by the other available options while what I need is just there: PayPal Express.

I followed the instructions in your link and once ‘landing page’ is set to ‘login’ credit card information shows up in PayPal after clicking the button. This way it’s more clear.

I’m not sure what disabling ‘Use WordPress Locale Code’ does, but it seems fine, PayPal still automatically sets the clients language.

The only think that I would like to improve is the PayPal button, can the button be replaced with a button that looks the same but shows the credit card symbols in the bottom?

I see there’s an option to insert your own image, but my site is multilingual. It would be great if I can add the symbols in the bottom.

    Thanks again.

So you just want to add some CC logos under the default PayPal EC button..??

Let me circle back with our developer to see if we have a specific hook available for that. I’ll get back to you soon.
