Which OS w/ mod_rewrite

Currently of going thru the headache of installing WP on my own server. My headache is that I first installed and setup on the latest Ubuntu server. However, I later found out mod_rewrite was disabled in the apache server I was using at the source. After days of searching for a way to enable it, I gave up.

Mod_rewrite is a very important feature to me. While it was enabled with my Debian install, Debian was a headache for other reasons.

I am now prepared to re-format and try again, but before I do, I would like to have an idea if mod_rewrite is available in CentOS? Or perhaps another OS would be a better choice?
