I plan on having multiple sites and I’m a newbie so I would like good phone tech support.

I have been looking at Dreamhost and Bluehost. Dreamhost seems good but it does not have phone tech support. I also like Bluehost but I read bad things about it in these forums.

I would appreciate suggestions on a good host that fits the needs I mentioned above. I would especially welcome comments on Dreamhost and Bluehost.

    Thank you.

Dreamhost’s support is quick, but my problems continued, well, from the time I signed up until I left. I had 19 service complaints in 60 days. I can’t say much about my current host’s customer service because I’ve been with 1&1 for years now, and I’ve only needed customer service once. Good overall service beats cute little messages from customer service any day. A good host shouldn’t have to boast about their tech support and other “add-ons”.

britgirl, jennmiller – thanks for the feedback on dreamhost.
By browsing WP forum and reading user reviews online, I get the feeling that DH is hit or miss. Some people are ok with them but some definitely are not.

So we’re down to a small orange and bluehost. I know enough about ASO, but I would really appreciate any user feedback (positive or negative) about bluehost.

I have chosen A Small Orange after much deliberation and research.

I have searched the whole net including WP forums and all of their customer have only good things to say. Plus when I emailed them with sales questions on thanksgiving, the owner answered me quickly twice with great info. I like the piece of mind of going with ASO even though they don’t give me 200gb of storage that I don’t need in the first place.

Thanks to all here who contributed to my research and decision.

Wow, I love Dreamhost. *shrug* I couldn’t ever be comfortable with another host again. I have everything I need.

I find their support good, also.

Yes, many people have been happy with both DH and BH but it seems that it is hit or miss, and others have had bad experiences with them. I still think they are good hosts but ASO does not have many, if any, disgruntled customers.
