Which hook or action can I use when any membership is purchased?

There are a few ways to achieve this, if you need to run your code on every time a user’s level changes the pmpro_after_change_membership_level hook – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/hook/pmpro_after_change_membership_level/

Alternatively, if you only need it to run on the checkout page you may use – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/hook/pmpro_after_checkout/

I have used the above Hook and it is successfully working.

One more question, once the user had purchased a membership then user can see upgrade and downgrade option on membership upgrade page.

Is there a way to show only upgrade option? I do not want to see downgrade option.

You may hook in on the pmpro_levels_array to hide certain levels from the level select page based on the user’s current level – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/hook/pmpro_levels_array/
