• i’ve read quite a few forum threads about a static page and a few about directories, but none of them quite answer my question. –keep in mind i’m new at this!–

my domain is lifeinelgin.com. i want lifeinelgin.com to be a static page, created with wordpress, that will link to my blog and other pages later on. i want lifeinelgin.com/blog to go to my blog.

so…should i put wordpress in a directory called lifeinelgin.com/blog or just in lifeinelgin? does it not matter? later on i will have other parts of my site that are non-wordpress created.

thanks for your patience with a probably very elementary question!

  • I’d put the files in the blog subdirectory since that’s where you want the blog.

Basically, I want to do the same thing (except that I created a page in WP and set it to home in options etc). Therefore, if I want this home page in root, but want my blogs in a directory, which pages do I copy to root? I tried to copy index.php to root but then its blank. I am a little confused on how to invoke the front page in root and have the remainder in a directory etc. I would greatly appreciate if someone could clear this up.

try to make a HTML page to send to blog index.php

    Yes.Idmx said it right.
