  • WPEngine’s CDN system, which runs on NetDNA/MaxCDN seems to work out of the box (their support can set up forwarding of the Accept-header), although I can’t tell whether the final source file is actually downloaded from the CDN or the WP-install. Any idea on how to do this?

Unfortunately, WPEngine’s CDN does some strange caching-trick where visits from non-webp-supporting browsers make all future requests serve jpegs without redirecting, so it doesn’t actually work at all. Also, WPEngine’s own caching has a conflict with Cache Enabler, so that doesn’t work either, unfortunately.
