• I use word press 4.2.2 and I installed Google xml sitemaps, activited and applied. Is it supposed to show up as a widget? I don’t see it anywhere. What if I want my sitemap to be seen. I have a manual sitemap I created myself but that is way too much work. Is there something more I need to do to get this sitemap to show up so people can use it.

  • I need the same information.

    Where is the sitemap?

I could be wrong but from the types of questions being asked there is some fundamental piece of information missing from directions on how to implement and use this plugin. I may be missing something but I’m darned if I can find this information.

Does anyone know where this information is?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    I can’t find physical sitemap.xml in my website https://www.dslspeedtest.us .

    It should be forcefully written.

There is a bug, I guess.

I am having this same problem. I can’t physically find my sitemaps that are generated from this plugin and don’t understand why. I looked on my site using an FTP client and they are not anywhere in the root directory.

What is even more strange is that when I go into Google Webmaster Tools and put in the sitemap URL based on where it should be that somehow Google Webmaster Tools seems to think it is there. How can this be?

I also have the WordPress SEO Plugin by Yoast installed and that plugin also has an XML sitemap function built into it, but I disabled it because I was told if you have it enabled twice from two different plugins it could cause a conflict.

But I don’t understand why this one isn’t really working. Has there been any response from the developer?

    Cheers..

I think it actually may have something to do with the fact that the plugin uses dynamic sitemaps and that is why you can’t find the actual file, but I am not certain.

I switched to another plugin called All In One SEO Pack, which is a rich SEO plugin with a lot of features, but also has a XML sitemap function built into it. It also wasn’t creating sitemaps that I could locate on my server initially, but it has a setting for Dynamic sitemaps, which I then disabled, and when I did that the sitemaps showed up in my site’s directory. Try that if you like.

    Hope that helps…

from the FAQ of the plugin:

Do I have to create a sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz by myself?
Not anymore. Since version 4, these files are dynamically generated. There must be no sitemap.xml or sitemap.xml.gz in your blog directory anymore! The plugin will try to rename them to sitemap.xml.bak if they still exists.

Does this plugin use static files or “I can’t find the sitemap.xml file!”
Not anymore. Since version 4, these files are dynamically generated just like any other WordPress content.

Having the same issue. I actually wanted to remove the sitemap and regenerate it – but I cannot see it via FTP. Where is it?
