• I had a blog that I want to move to a new host. I can’t find the blog. I thought the new site needed to be up before the the blog could be connected. Now the blog isn’t available. Can someone help. I’d really don’t want to lose my blog posts.

  • Are you talking about a wordpress.com blog? If so, you might want to start here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/

It’s a worfpress blog on a custom site. In that .com forum; they told me to look here. !!

    on a custom site

Yes, you’re in the right place, then. Have you checked with the webhost for that old site?

That would be YAHOO …the very reason I am changing Hosts. They don’t have a Customer Service Department anymore !

Well… at least they aren’t available or don’t respond.

What is the URL for your former website?

    https://www.NaturalLifePhotography.com

    Blog: wwwNaturalLifePhotography.com/visionsfromoregon/

Just did a header request on this server, returns ok, but your domain may have expired, it says 24 April 2014. Check your registration, sometimes the response you get back from the server is wrong about this.

My web site https://www.NaturalLifePhotography.com is being Hosted by Square Space now. I started the Blog @ my web site (hosted by Yahoo) using WordPress. I transferred the Hosting on 4/24. I don’t have the WP software on my computer. The computers new since I started the Blog. When I go to my WP.com account, it’s shows a blank Blog. When I go to WP.org, I can’t find an account.

Square Space is helping me with their Import approach, but we are yet to be able to find/connect to the Blog pages.

If you transfer your domain to a new host, typically the old host removes the site from their servers. Can you still log into the Yahoo! administrative panel for your old site? You may be able to get a backup copy of your old database through phpmyadmin

I suspect your answer may be as close as I can get. Sadly, I cancelled my account because it was about to re-charge me.

If I re-establish that hosting relationship, even for a day; I’m unclear what impact that will have on my ability to transfer my hosting back to Square Space or even if it would work.

I really have a hard time when making these kind of connections. Few seem to be able to help because of the interactive intricacies of the softwares.

If you can help further, I would greatly appreciate it.

I’m sorry, at this point it will really not help to re-establish any relationship with the previous host, the MySQL database would have been wiped shortly after you cancelled your plan. There will be archived copies, but these are mainly for recovery purposes, and not easy to pull from the archives, so it is unlikely you will get help there. I did take a look at Google page cache, it seems they re-visited and cached your site on the 24th, so they picked up the new site. I am out of ideas. I hate to say it at a time like this, but there are multiple document assets available to help you migrate a WordPress site, if you ever need to do this again, please take a look.

If you’ve canceled your hosting with Yahoo they more then likely have automatically deleted all your files off their servers upon cancellation. Your blog most likely has been deleted.
