where to upload pics in filezilla to be readed in wordpress?

    I do not know where to upload pics/videos in order to be in hand in wordpress 3.4.1?
    I mean for instance when I upload pics in wp-contents (uploads part) in filezilla,then how and where I can track my pics?
    Do I need to creat database seperately or not?

    I want to upload video/pics more than 80Mb that is restricted in library in wordpress.
    In fact I can restate my question as: how I can upload files more than 80Mb in library?

  • Hi.
    You can use the WP Admin Media Gallery functionality to upload and manage media.
    There is no need to manually upload your media via FTP.

    Even if you did manually upload them you would have to import them somehow to have them show up in the Media gallery. Otherwise you could link to them if you know the URLs but most of the functionality would be non-existent.

    Hi.
    Thank you for the answers.but still I could not understand what you mean!
    by Media Gallery if you mean media->library there will be still problem. I mean I can not upload pics/videos more than 8 Mb.
    So I do not know by Media gallery?
    Is it a plugin?

    Hey arteshesolh,

    By “Media Gallery” they do mean the menu “Media > Add New” (the “Media > Library” shows all media you’ve uploaded).

    It’s not very recommended to upload images bigger than 2Mb. Notice that I’m talking on a per-file basis. You can upload more than 80Mb in files, as long as each one is not 80Mb.

    If you wish to upload it via FTP (not recommended, as you’ll have to type in the address manually for each image in your WordPress post), you can upload it to “wp-content/uploads/YYYY/MM” (YYYY being the year – such as 2012 – and MM being the month – such as 07).

    Yes, “media library” I should have been more careful with what I wrote.

    If your concern is about file size, chances are you are uploading images at much too high a resolution. You should be saving your images for the web, with no EXIF data or thumbnails and with as much compression as you can without distorting the image.
