    Dear mailpoet team,

I need to know, where to translate the checkbox text of the optional email check field (below stated) within my checkout page?

“I would like to receive exclusive emails with discounts and product information (optional)”

Usually, I use WPML to find all the strings to be translated, but this one above stated is not to found within string translation of WPML.

Do you have any ideas why and where to find this string to be translated?

    Best regards, Alex

    Hi there,

That text can be set via the “Checkbox opt-in message” setting under MailPoet > Settings > WooCommerce:

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

    Hi kellymetal,

I can see now where to change the text, but cannot find out where to translate the same to use this with both of my languages in use (EN and DE).

Do you have any ideas where am I able to translate this string, because I cannot find this within WPML string translation?

    Best regards, Alex

P.S. I also found this article which is also related to that problem.

    Hi there Alex,

If you search for that string without the “(optional)” at the end, do you see it come up?

Using Loco Translate, after generating a template file, I searched for “I would like to receive exclusive emails with” and I see the text/string available for translation here:

    loco translate

Please let me know how that goes, or if you have any questions!

    Hi Kellymetal,

the string without the “(optional)” entry is also been found and already translated with the WPML string translator, but the missing one with the “(optional)” is still not found. Screenshot > https://www.screencast.com/t/jqxjidmVG

That is what I need to translate and hopefully you can help me to find out how. The same issue is stated in this article. The problem exactly is, that the string with the (optinal) is not found either within WPML and also not within LOCO and therefore is still in need to be found.

I am looking forward to your helping reply.

    Best regards, Alex

    Hi there Alex,

Taking another look, from what I see there is just a single “I would like to…” string in the plugin, but the “(optional)” is being added somewhere else in the code. For example, if I change the setting to just “My text” like this:

    my text
    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/J4xvY7

We still see the “(optional)” added at Checkout like this:

    checkout
    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/sOfhre

Based on that, the issue doesn’t seem to be that there is a separate string with “optional” that needs to be translated, but that the existing string can’t really be translated with WPML (only set directly in the settings). I see this is mentioned in our documentation here as well (i.e. WPML not supported), along with some workarounds for using MailPoet on multilingual sites:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/203-support-for-multilingual-plugins

Double checking again with Loco Translate as well, I see that editing that string I found previously doesn’t update the string at Checkout. It seems that might just be for the default string in the setting.

It would also be great if you could add this to our feedback/requests board here:
    https://mailpoet.canny.io/

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
