where to find the cropped images

  • When you custom crop an image the specific image size is directly replaced in it’s original upload directory (eg: /wp-content/uploads/2013/12/…) using the appropriate suffix (eg; 920×238 in your case).

    About the featured image control in WordPress: the UI allows you to choose just a source image, which format is used in the front-end is a theme matter.
