  • You need to create an account at wordpress.COM to get that key.

    See: https://en.wordpress.com/api-keys/

Where do you retrieve it later say after 7 months?

Log into your WordPress.com account and visit your Global Dashboard.

From there, click on the Your Profile link under the Profile section on the left hand side and the API key will be located at the top of the page.

Thanks, but it is not at that location in in 2.7.1

    Thanks, but ..

You retrieve your key from there. Why do you need to know where its stored in your blog? If youre changing it/entering it after having not used it for some time, you already have THAT answer anyway.

Im not understanding what youre trying to accomplish, and that’s pertinent to your question.

Ok everybody. Thanks, I found it inside my blog at WordPress.com under users, profile.

Thanks freeproducts. I’m having the same problem, and I’m glad I didn’t have to suffer any more abuse from Word Press to get a simple answer.

My blog stats plugin went down after I tried to upgrade it, and now I need to find my API key.

I realize this thread is marked resolved, but…now I’m the one who can’t find it. (version 2.9.1). Am I correct in assuming that “global dashboard” refers to the top-level dashboard that you get to by clicking on the word “dashboard” at the top of the left column?

Thanks in advance for walking me through this one.

    EDIT:

OK, the light came on. Somehow I managed to look past the explicit references to wordpress.COM (which is where the global dashboard is, for anyone else having this problem). It was right there in the profiles section as mentioned above.

    Hi.

HELP! I cannot find the obvious! Where is the GLOBAL dashboard? I don’t think I have one. I am using the independent wordpress blog that is loaded up on my personal domain.

I absolutely do not see anything that says even wordpress.com. I find my profile but only under my personal dashboard, and it has no API KEY!

you have to actually go to the website wordpress.com and sign up there
