where to change URL settings

I decided to leave most of the files in the sub directory(wp)and just copy the index.php and the .htaccess to the public_html directory.

I changed the wp-config.php file to reflect the change in location:

define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://kevinruble.com/wp’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://kevinruble.com’);

Now if I type in the website URL, all I get is a blank white screen…no 404 message or anything. Ideas?

You should not move any files. just change the URLS. this article has everything you need.

So Ive tried the following:

*not moving any files to the root directory, but changed the wp-config.php as above…same result

*moving ALL files to the root directory, changing config file thusly:

define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://kevinruble.com’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://kevinruble.com’);

got an error saying it “could not access database files”

Ive moved everything bak to the “wp” sub-directory for now and all works again with the https://kevinruble.com/wp

Any further ideas anyone?

This question is not relevant with lifestyle theme.
I’ll suggest to use migration plugin like BackupBuddy, All in One WP Migration or others. It will save you a lot of time and energy.
