Hi @alauer, thanks for your question.

As of September 27, 2021, the DPA, which contains the 2010 EU Standard Contractual Clauses, no longer applies to Defiant’s processing of EU personal data through the Wordfence services. The revised EU Standard Contractual Clauses issued by the EU Commission on June 4, 2021 (in effect as of June 27, 2021) apply to all Defiant agreements signed after September 27, 2021. As a result of this, the file was removed from our servers.

You may review the revised Wordfence Terms of Use at https://www.wordfence.com/terms-of-use/ and the revised Standard Contractual Clauses at https://www.wordfence.com/standard-contractual-clauses/. The new Standard Contractual Clauses are effectively signed through the new Terms of Use on Wordfence.com.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hello Peter,
    thanx for explaining.

    Did i understand that correct:
I dont need to sign any documents and all legal requirements have been fullfilled and no data is collected & transferred to US(or other)-Servers?

    If i understood correct:
    – Is it like that also in the free version?
    – Do i have to do particular settings or is it standard behaviour?

    kind regards
    axel

    Hi @alauer,

You don’t need to sign, the free version is the same and you don’t need to change any settings in the plugin.

Within the Standard Contractual Clauses, in the Appendix, Annex I, is the parties to the data agreement, namely the Customer (you) and Defiant, Inc. (who does business as Wordfence). By agreeing to the Terms of Service for Wordfence (https://www.wordfence.com/terms-of-service/), you are agreeing to the Standard Contractual Clauses describing how data will be transferred between the EU and USA.

IP addresses are considered personal identifiable information per the GDPR so we do technically collect personal data.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
