Where is the GUID?

  • When/where does wordpress create the GUID for a particular post? And how does that effect the generation of a permalink? I know that the GUID is stored in the posts table of the database, but if I try to use a mysql query to create a new post with a GUID/permalink, it doesn’t want to do it. Any help would be really appreciated….

    I have inserted different pages into the posts table, but the guid field is filled wrong.
