Where is “Please select a rating” alert coming from?

  • Hello, I’d like to ask where is “Please select a rating” alert coming from if you don’t select any star while posting product review? I’ve checked all php template files related to review/rating and can’t seem to find it.

    I’m using Woocommerce with Understrap child theme.

    Could you clarify what you’re aiming to achieve with this text? Are you looking to make it optional or modify it?

    You can make it optional from WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Reviews.

    The “Please select a rating” alert comes from WooCommerce’s built-in JavaScript validation, not a PHP template file. Since this message is handled by JavaScript, changing it requires custom code.

    Custom code is outside our support scope, but you can consult a developer or join our WooCommerce Community Slack to discuss this with other developers.
