• Downloaded the slideshow plugin, activated, set a few settings and imported 3 images to give it a try. There is however nowhere to save the slideshow, which is what I want to do. The system immediately insists on publishing the slide show to a location where I do not want it.
Copied the shortcode and entered this shortcode where I want it. Also deleted the post the slideshow plugin automatically created.
The went to look at the result. it’s here:

    https://cretefocus.com/places-to-go/united-colours-chania/

This needs a lot of teaking and more images adding.
So I go back, click on the slideshow tab and then slideshows, to be told “No slideshows found”
So where is it, and why? Also, why does the system insist on automatically creating a post instead of allowing me to save the slidesho and post it where I want it?

Nice plugin, but it would be even nicer if it worked as it says on the tin…

That’s very strange. After publishing a slideshow, you should be able to find it in the list with slideshows. It sounds like another plugin is interfering when publishing a slideshow, as a post was created instead of a slideshow.

You could test if this is the case by disabling your plugins one by one until you can publish a slideshow without it becoming a post.

No, I’ve disabled every single plugin, including all the security stuff and just had the slideshow activated. the moment I click “publish” it immediately cretes a post, and upon double checking the slide show listing, the show just created (which cretes the listing) is not in the list. As far as the system goes, there is no slideshow…

When I create a slideshow, the system tells me it is going to save the post type as “slideshow”, but it doesn’t. I can edit this setting to “posts”, “Pages”, “media”, “FAQ”, or “articles”. But slideshows are not in the list thus not recognized as a post format??? I can save the slideshow in any format listed in the drop down list, but not as a “slideshow”…

Thanks for the extra information. I’m going to create a WordPress forum thread for this issue, as I haven’t heard about anyone having these problems with all plugins disabled before.

I’ll keep you posted about the answers I receive. In the mean time it might be a good idea to either reinstall the slideshow plugin to see if anything changes, or to use a different slideshow plugin.

I have reinstalled it, and no joy. What bugs me most it as it shows the slideshow, it must be stored somewhere. But where? If I could get at the slideshow to edit it, then we could at least use it. At the moment we can, but it has to be perfect before publishing it, because we can’t go back and edit. the widget function also does not work in the current set-up. I’m waiting (still!) for the makers of the theme (DirectoryPress) to come back to me and see if they can shed any light on this.

Meanwhile, I think I have found the problem. It seems to have to do with DirectoryPress indeed, although they haven’t bothered getting back to me on this (or anything else for that matter.) Finding a solution to the problem will require them getting involved, so it looks like we’ll be waiting for this. I’ll start hassling them again…

    Hi, Stefan Boonstra
Has already found a solution, why names removed from the slideshowlist after they be edited?
