I open an account in an free web-PHP hosting. The system support have a WordPress script installer.

I install it and all was done fine, so i try to activated Askimed. The plug-in ask me about the API Key. I try to use the key from my blog in WordPress.com, but the system reject me.

Where i get the API Key in my installed version 2.0.5, please ???

  • How did it reject you? The specific error would help else all we can do is make guesses and, trust me, you don’t want this bunch making guesses. ??

    Hi DrMike

When i insert the API key from my wordpress.com account WP don’t show me any kind of confirmation and when i go to other section, WP show me this message inside the page and below the links menu:

Akismet is not active. You must enter your WordPress.com API key for it to work.

Of course the system reject my API key. How i get one… maybe opening another account ???

Get with your host and make sure they allow the fopen function. Also make sure that you can make outbound port 80 connections from your webspace. if they need a domain to whitelist, have them use *.askimet.org

And of course double check the actual API key to make sure it;s correct.

That would be “*.akismet.org”. Spelling counts.
