• In the 2010 theme I do not see a “Footer” under “Appearance” in the admin panel. Is that only available only in a custom theme? How do I add links to the footer in theme 2010?
    Thank you.

  • If you don’t have a footer file….something is up….

I am not referring to the footer.php file in the Editor. I had a “Footer” tab under “Appearance” in the admin panel that disappears when I switch to theme 2010. When I switch to theme 2010 I see “Header” under “Appearance” in the admin panel and “Footer” disappears on me. Do You see a “Footer” under “Appearance” in theme 2010? I use the “Footer” in my present theme to put some links to my site and text in the “Footer” area. Unless it is only part of my current theme. In that case it might be a separate file in my root folder.
    Thank you.

TwentyTen does not add a Footer menu choice under the Appearance menu. You would need to use the theme editor to make changes to that theme’s footer or put code in your functions.php.

That’s a part of your theme. It’s not a feature in 2010 so it’s not there.

Instead, you can use widgets, though. IIRC there are footer widgets.

Thank you. What can you put in those widgets? Text and images etc.?

You have 4 Footer locations for Widgets – looks like any Widget – looks easier to just put in a text widget and that should give you a lot of flexibility for pictures and links.
