Newb here. I need to add some custom CSS to the Twenty Twenty-Four theme to fix a problem with a plug-in. Everything I’ve read suggests it’s under the theme’s Customize button on the Appearance tab. There are only 5 options there, however, and none of them are Custom CSS. Should I look somewhere else, or is customizing CSS not an option for Twenty Twenty-Four? Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @involute,

From what I understand, you’re new to this and are looking for the Custom CSS option in the Twenty Twenty-Four theme to fix an issue with a plugin. You’ve mentioned that you’ve looked under the Customize button on the Appearance tab but couldn’t find the Custom CSS option. Let’s see how we can assist you with this.

The Custom CSS option is not directly listed under the Customize button. It’s actually located in a slightly different place. Here’s how you can access it:

    1. Navigate to your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Go to Appearance > Customize. This will open the WordPress customizer.
    3. In the customizer, you’ll find various options. Look for the ‘Additional CSS‘ option. This is where you can add your custom CSS.

So, you won’t see an option called ‘Custom CSS’ but rather ‘Additional CSS’ which serves the same purpose. You can add your custom CSS code there to fix the issue with the plugin.

Please be careful when adding custom CSS as incorrect code can sometimes cause issues with your website’s appearance. If you’re unsure about the CSS code, it’s always a good idea to consult with a developer or someone with CSS knowledge.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need more assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there’s no Customize option in my Appearance menu, just Themes and Editor. I’d post a screenshot but I can’t figure out how to insert an image with the block editor.

    Hi @involute,

Unfortunately, there’s no Customize option in my Appearance menu, just Themes and Editor. I’d post a screenshot but I can’t figure out how to insert an image with the block editor.

Thank you for getting back to us. I’m sorry to hear that you’re not seeing the ‘Customize’ option in your Appearance menu. This is quite unusual as the ‘Customize’ option should be available by default in WordPress.

There could be a few reasons why the ‘Customize’ option is not showing up. It could be due to a user role restriction, a conflict with a plugin, or even a theme issue.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check User Role: Make sure you’re logged in as an Administrator. Other user roles may not have the ability to access the ‘Customize’ option.
    2. Deactivate Plugins: Try deactivating all your plugins temporarily to see if this brings back the ‘Customize’ option. If it does, reactivate your plugins one by one until you find the one causing the issue.
    3. Switch Themes: Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme like Storefront to see if the ‘Customize’ option appears. If it does, the issue might be with your current theme. Here’s a handy guide on testing for conflicts: ?? How to Test for Plugin and Theme Conflicts.

If you’re still having trouble, it would be helpful to see a screenshot of your dashboard. You can use a free service like https://snipboard.io to share screenshots. Just follow the instructions on the page, capture your screen, and then paste the URL it generates into your reply.

We would also appreciate seeing your site’s System Status report. It can give us a clearer picture of your site’s setup and help us identify the problem. You can find the report under WooCommerce > Status. Choose Get system report and then Copy for support.

Once you’ve collected this information, please paste it inside a Code block in your reply, or use https://pastebin.com to paste it and share the link with us.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation in this matter! We’re here to help you get this sorted.

The TwentyTwentyFour theme, being a block theme, does not show “Customize” in the available options.

    Hello richdubya

    Thank you for your reply.

I wanted to inform you that with the Site Editor, you have the ability to include both Site Wide CSS and Block level CSS. This allows you to customize the appearance of your website in a more granular way.

For more information and detailed instructions, please refer to this documentation. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us. ??

    Have a great day!

    Hi @doublezed2,

Your answer worked for me. Much appreciated.

    Thanks!

you can actually also type wp-admin/customize.php and it will show you the good old site customizer instead of the FSE sidebar.

    Type it where?

    where you type in urls

Sometimes it does appear, most often it doesn’t. In addition the SiteWide CSS option you mentioned certainly doesn’t link to the same place as the customize.php, and that’s a lot easier to find and use.

What you actually have here seems to be a lot of stuff that just doesn’t work. For instance you go into Styles > Additional CSS > Blocks then select Buttons. You can set the padding but nothing happens to buttons when you save. You can’t set the Margins here. look at the Buttons settings and you see

But in practise it looks like this

But then if you say “but that the Add to Cart Block”. well that has been set to

    So much for Global settings.
