Where do I go to find a list of my WordPress databases?
-
Using WordPress 2.7.1, the plug in WordPress Database Backup 2.2.2 On-demand backup of your WordPress database. Navigate to Tools → Backup to get started. By Austin Matzko does a great job of listing previous databases that as I learned how to use wordpress starting at 2.4, 2.5, 2.6 and into the current version I’m using 2.7.1 but doesn’t tell me where to go to delete these old databases.
The concern of this forum post is that I currently don’t know where to go to be able to:
1. view a list the databases I’ve generated
2. how to permanently delete those databases that I need to because I’ve either corrupted or messed them up in some way as to be unusable now.I pay $20 a month to Hostway.com which bought out Valueweb.com for server space and I have deleted all of these previous database versions from my server with them because of corruption and errors I generated in them as I learned how to use wordpress.
When I go to install a new database using any of the database names I’ve used before I get the error message that the database is already generated. This basically generates a fatal error and the only solution I’ve found is to delete the installation and start over again.
I have finally gotten 1 version to work for now https://www.onguys.com/blue which we’re calling a beta version till I learn enough to be able to put a final version under our main server directory instead of under a subfolder like it is now.
I have some other concerns, which were what I’m trying to learn how to do with wordpress and caused the database crashes to begin with I think; but in an attempt to stay focused on one issue at a time per forum post I’ll end this one here. Because I’m thinking do a separate forum for each concern will help keep the answers focused on each concern more than if I post all of them in one forum post.
This is a great Community, Thank You Everyone for all of your help.
To be honest, I think a lot of my problem came from not knowing how to use wordpress and having to teach it to myself as I went. Rookies, right, we are a pain sometimes, but once we learn from our mistakes we make great assistants to others that experience similar concerns. That’s one of the things I love about this community. We’re all growing in our technical skills, some are like me and are real newbies to php and mysql even though I have nearly 7 years worth of previous experience with the html and display field options in MS Frontpage versions 2000 and 2003; but that doesn’t really translate but periferally with wordpress in many ways I’ve found.
Thanks Again Everyone. Love You All, That’s what makes this such a strong community whether we’re new to wordpress like I am or have some experience or have grown into a serious digeratti guru we’re able to help each other based on our experiences and what technical skills we’ve learned from both good and bad experiences and experiments.
Thanks Again, Sincerely,
Onguys
