• I mark comments as spam, getting hammered with them, does marking them as spam do anything special, like add the IP to a blacklist?

If it does not, where do I go to see all the comments i marked as spam, or is it the same as deleting them?

  • If you don’t have any plugins installed, it’s the same as deleting it except that deleting it removes it from the database and marking it as spam does not.

Anyway, here’s two plugins you should install so that you’ll never ever get spam again:

    • Bad Behavior – stops bots from ever accessing your site in the first place.
    • Spam Karma 2 – Reloaded – if any bots do manage to get through or someone manually enters spam, this’ll catch it and mark it for moderation.

Where do comments marked as [spam] go?

Comments marked as [spam] will be held in your WordPress database for upcoming “intelligent” anti-spam features. Plugins like Spam Nuker can safely recover or permanently delete any comments marked as [spam].

As can Spam Karma 2. ?? It saves comments marked as spam and marks them as such. It’s basically a way of keeping comments without displaying them on your site or in the moderation queue.

    OMG!
Thanks for sharing this information guys! *runs off to install plugin*
