I am using the trial version of pro and I created just one event “Level 1U”, but it contained a typo, so I edited it and changed the name to “Level One”. Now when I click on Events in the admin panel, it is not there. I can see “All (1) | Published (1)” at the top of the page, but the only think in the list is “No Events Found”.

Is this a bug or a feature?
How can I get my event back?

    Thanks!

if you try to rename it to it’s original name, does it work?

I am pretty sure it will. The event is still there. I can navigate to it in a couple different ways.

This is more-or-less a bug report. I suspect there needs to be an on-save action that will update other locations where the name of the event is stored. Or, perhaps, stop storing the name in other locations. Or, don’t allow a name change. etc.

When looking in the dashboard, what filters (at the top of the table, next to bulk actions) set?

Perhaps it’s just that the event is not showing because of those filters?

Yes … I changed filter to “All Events” and the hidden event was listed.

The reason I thought there was a bug is because when viewing a different event I saw that the back-link (bottom of the page) still had the old name. But this is not the case now.

    Thanks!

I reopened this issue because it happened again. This time on my live website.

I had a reoccurring event named “Mandarin Level 1 (2 nights per week)”, where registration was disabled. Then I enabled registration on the first event and set the price. After adding a second reoccuring event, I thought better of the name and, in the recurring event panel, I renamed the event to “Mandarin Level 1 (2 nights/week)”. After saving it I opened the reoccuring events panel and the event was gone. Unlike the last time, the panel header reads “All (1) | Published (1)”.

The last time it happened, I changed the filter to “All Events” and the renamed one showed up. But changing the filter did not help this time.

I also checked the events panel, and the event instances were still there … with the old name.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

The fact that you see “All (1) | Published (1)” suggests the event wasn’t saved at all.

Do you see it anywhere? If not, it looks like you just didn’t save/publish it.

    Thanks

It was published. The original reoccurring event created 11 events in the event panel. (note that in the description above I mentioned that “I enabled registration on the first event”.) After renaming, the event that was enabled for booking disappeared (from the list in the event panel), but the remaining events are still there – and not renamed.

Another interesting thing is that when I select “view” on any event that is enabled for booking (in the event panel), I can navigate to the renamed event registration page using the links at the bottom of the page.

Can someone try to duplicate my steps?
    1) Create a recurring event with (twice a week for ten weeks)
    2) Enable registration for the first event only, charge $100.
    2) Create a second similar recurring event
    4) Enable registration for the first event only, charge $100.
    5) Change the name of the first recurring event.

    thanks

More findings along the same line.

I found that it is impossible to change the meeting time of a recurring event. Well, to be more accurate. Changing the meeting time of a recurring event has no effect on the events that it created.

So decided to go for a clean slate and clear all the events, recurring and otherwise, from my site.

But it didn’t work. Even though there are no events displayed, the heading reads “All (1) | Published (1)”.

Clicking on “All” didn’t work, Clicking on “Published” didn’t work. But selecting “All Events” from the drop down did work. Is this a bug or a feature?

    Thanks

I’m not able to replicate the issue.

Before editing the events, did you detach them from the main sequence of recurring events?

    Thread Starter mirgcire

    (@mirgcire)

The only change I made to an event was to make the first one book-able.
Do I need to detach before making this change?
How to detach? I don’t see that option.

    Thanks

you can detach an event from Events > events hover on the event name and on the right side click Detach

I got so frustrated that deleted all my events, recurring events, locations and uninstalled the plugin. Then I re-installed the plugin and carefully retraced my steps.

I added 6 recurring events and verified that they resulted in the appropriate events.

    I observed 2 weird things:

    1) When I changed the location from recurring events, and, after updating, it did not propagate to the events.
    2) When I changed the time from recurring events, after clicking update, I noticed that the page switched from “Edit Recurring Event” to “Edit Post”.

#2 is too weird. It makes me think there is something wrong with the WP install or the DB

So I installed a fresh WP/DB on a different site, installed the EM plugin and after repeating my steps have found no problem.

So either my installation has some corruption in files or DB, or there is a plugin compatibility, … or both.
