    Hi,
I am looking to upload my webstore catalog as a single bulk upload. I created a spreadsheet using all the fields as shown in the Product CSV Import Schema page. But I am not sure which fields I need to populate, and need some help with uploading products that have variations. The page gives me some information, but some of the fields I am unsure about.
Is there anywhere I can get detailed instruction on each field and which ones are required, aside from name, price, description, sku etc, and do I need to upload a separate spreadsheet for the variations, or can I do it all on the same sheet?

If you know where I can go to get these answers, please let me know.

    Thanks!

  • Hello there,

No need to upload the variations separated.

Please refer to Product CSV Import Schema it contains a short description of each field, some fields appears as required.

You can get a sample of CSV file right here.

    Hope this provides clarity.

    Hi Igor,

Thank yo for the information, that sample does help a lot. I see how variations appear in that sheet, but I have a few questions.

Hoiw can i tell which fields are required? I dont need to use ID’s or SKU’s, does that matter?

I dont see how to assign a variation to the parent, for #16 on the example, the name is V-Neck T-Shirt – Red, but the parent is the SKU. Are SKU’s required for variations?

    Appreciate your help!

    Hi there,

The general recommendation is to follow the structure of the Product CSV Import Schema, it indicates the fields that are required, IDs, and SKUs are important (they will help you to tell WooCommerce which product owns the variants).

You can customize the headers if you would like but that needs a plugin such as the Product CSV Import Suite

    See documentation.

    Hopes this provides clarity ??

If they are new products, do not use ID – that will be assigned automatically. Use an SKU – and if you are uploading variations then, yes, the patent product will need an SKU to use for the variation Parent column.

Thank you all for your help, I think I am getting the hang of it, should be smooth sailing from here on in. Thanks again, really appreciate all your help!

Glad to know we could help you out ??

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new thread.

    Cheers.
