Where are the table names defined?

  • in earlier versions of WP the table names were defined in wp-settings.php

    there was a section:

    // Table names
    $tableposts = $table_prefix . ‘posts’;
    $tableusers = $table_prefix . ‘users’;
    etc..

    i would like to upgrade to the latest version but this section is now no longer in wp-settings.php

    can someone please tell me where the table names are defined as i need to change the name of one of the tables in the DB

    please note: its version 2.6
