    Hello,

    I’m pretty new to WordPress, but, enjoying it so far. One small issue I have though, I suddenly have google ads showing up on my site, and I cannot figure out where they are coming from. Is there anyone out there more knowledgeable then me that can help me figure out how to get rid of them? I would appreciate it highly.

    Thank you very much.

  • well, ive looked at that theme.. they dont appear to be in there. that means theyre the result of a plugin — so disable your plugins one by one, and go refresh the page and see if they disappear.

    I removed all of the plugins, and refreshed after clearing my cache completely, and they are still there. I also tried a different template. I have no clue where these things are coming from.

    I even deleted everything from my sidebar, thinking it was something odd there…

    hmm, and if you change themes?

    I looked for adsense code, but maybe i missed it

    Still showed up if I changed themes… This is boggling me… I thought it may have been feedburner, however, I have ads disabled on there also…

    When I looked at your site, there’s a google ad right after the second post. Viewing the page source at that location:

    <p>Rest in peace Bozo, I love you.</p></div>
    <div class=”blogger-post-footer”><script type=”text/javascript”><!–
    google_ad_client = “pub-2136462983264889”;
    /* 468×60, created 2/28/08 */
    google_ad_slot = “7951612587”;
    google_ad_width = 468;
    google_ad_height = 60;
    // –></script>
    <script src=”https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js&#8221; type=”text/javascript”></script></div>
    <div class=”clear”></div>

    So there it is. Look in Design>Theme Editor and any of the common page templates (Single Post – single.php for example) to see if it’s in there directly. It may also be a Function that is being called into those page templates.

    MoonbagWingnut, you just saved my sanity.

    I pulled 99% of this over from my blogger site, and I had google ads enabled on there. The ads I’m seeing are actually in the posts themselves. I should have realized it by the odd placement.

    I blame lack of sleep for the last 30+ hours.

    Thank you both for your help. It was my stupidity…

    Cool, glad you worked it out.

    I’m finding that WP is a case of apparent complexity that gives way to elegant simplicity if you are just willing to accept it for what it is. Which is pretty much the way all software works. Become One with The Borg and all will be well. Except that every program thinks it’s the One True Borg. ;-/
