• Hi,

I tried to activate permalink options in the admin panel.
After that, I get a beautifull ERROR 500 for every-pages I tried to reach in my site !!
In the root of my website I got a protected .htaccess file

I checked the doc and have found that I should have preparre a writtable .htaccess file. So I delet my .htaccess, hopping WP would writte a new one … it doesn’t work.

So I would like reset the values for the pemalinks options directly in the data base … but I failed to find them.

Does anybody have an idea ?

    Rgds.

  • Did you update your Permalink structure?
    Administration > Options > Permalinks

Also you might find this recent wp-hackers discussion:
    https://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/2007-January/010564.html

There I read the rewrite rules were kept in the database in wp_options with the option_name of rewrite_rules though I don’t know that you want to be monkeying with your database.

As always ,if you do manually adjust your database, please consider doing a backup of that database first.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer.

In fact my problem seems to be le .htaccess created by WP2.1 after updating options in the control panel.

This option seems to be too tricky for my skills … so I choose not to use it.

By the way I confirm that the “rewrite_rules” entry was found where you told me. It doesn’t exit before I tryed this option so I deleted it.
Even after the deletion of the “.htaccess” in the root directory and the deletion of this entry in the wp_options table, I found it activated in the admin panel. Now I’am using the default option ^^
