Two of our website projects–the two most recently built–have both experienced a sudden problem with resource paths being incorrect. This happened when SiteGround “updated” its servers to use their re-package of cPanel.
(These sites had been stable for months. No changes.)

I fixed one of the sites by tracking the problem to a stylesheet. One image path had reverted to a version that was only valid during development.

This second one has two paths that have reverted to development; an image and also a video. I have searched the style sheets, the database and the htaccess file. I corrected the image path in the following … wp-content/uploads/elementor/css/post-8.css

…but the web page still shows 404 for image and video. In other words, I can’t figure where the incorrect/old path is coming from?

In each of these, the string realizetech.com/ is wrong.
This is one of the strangest errors I have seen. Any ideas?

(I asked SiteGround support about the recent server work, and basically they have no clue what went wrong.)

  • Hello,

This should be checked with your hosting environment and WordPress are the ones that take care of the content and the path where everything stored in the uploads folder.

After checking all the style sheets, functions.php, htaccess, and database, no luck.
So I started wandering around the WordPress Admin area and found an Elementor tool named Change URL. I backed up my database first, then I put in the main section of the wrong link to my media resources, followed by the correct main section. The tool said it changed five rows. The site works again, as it had for months, before this happened.

As you can see, I am puzzled how this came about.
