I have a question – is it better to activate the plugin when it’s still on my server and I have control over everything or when it’s already on the final (custromer’s)server (when I don’t have access to the files and a DB)?
My friend had taught me to activate and adapt it on the final server but now I have a situation that after changin the login page slug I cannot entry the admin panel and I wonder if it hadn’t been better to make all the changes on my server first ??

Hi, if you are referring to on of the Brute Force features i.e rename login page. When you try to log in do you type the following in the browser https://www.yoursite.com/newsecretword?

Okay, did you update any plugin, theme? Do you have a cache plugin installed? Have checked the log files?

No. The site has been transferred to a new server, then I’ve entered the admin panel, activated the plugin, set necessary configuration and that’s it. The new login-page didn’t work, but mysite.com/wp-admin was still working. But then, after a few hours when I tried to enter the panel I couldn’t cause wp-admin also doesn’t work now, I have a blank page. The same with wp-login.php.

Hi, check the following URL. That should help you with the plugin. Since you changed server you might also have to look at other areas as well.

yeah, I know, I’ll do this then I have an access to the server and to the DB. However – you didn’t answer my question:) Is it better to install and config the plugin on my test server or on the final server (to which I don’t have access, only admin-panel then). Or it doesn’t really matter?

Sorry, I will answer your question. In my experience when it comes to security plugins it is best to install and set up when your site goes live “Final server”.
