when publishing very slow

  • When i publish a post in my weblog the screen stays white and doesnt go back to the writing page is this an error in wp or something like that? the post is published after a time but i get no confirmation.

  • Same problem here. It’s really frustrating since I need to post things fast and it takes 1-2 minutes or more for a post to go through.

    Yet on here when I click send post, it’s instant, like it should be in my blog.

    timmer: What version of WordPress? Try adding this to your .htaccess file to see if we can get errors to show up:

    php_value display_errors on

    My guess is an error is occuring, but your current server config is hiding it.

    WindsorScannerWatch: Your issue isn’t related and it’s not really proper to hijack a thread when you issue isn’t the same. ??

    Anyway, I can’t remember if v1.5.2 had the feature or not, but in WP2, pingback/trackbacks are sent AFTER the post is made (that was previously the reason for the delay).

    So either upgrade to the newest version or try unchecking “Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)” under Options -> Discussion.

    Viper, I don’t have that pingback or notify weblogs enabled. I didn’t think I was hijacking this either since i was trying to find more help since this seemed similar to me. Not the same so sorry about that. Still can’t figure out why even when I try to edit a post it hangs just like when i try to post. I’m not going to just upgrade either. It has been working fine. That’s not a solution.

    go to option, writing, delete anything in Update Services box.

    Recently, i was trying to move from blogger to wordPress but wordPress was extemely slow. I managed to open 1-2 posts in hours. So, i dropped the idea of switching to wordPress for now. Sigh!

    weird….

    i have the same pb. unresolved… actually even a bit more that 20 sec.

    1/ I erased all ping services in writing options
    2/ I commented out the preview iframe
    3/ I checked out the ‘discussion’ options to alert other services

    ??

    it happens for EDIT…
    but also when I click to post a new post…
    so it can’t be the ping nor the preview…

    maybe it’s because my connection is just slow (like 2 times a modem connection) and the “post” pages are very large?

    it’s still very weird because the admin is very fast apart from that…

    SOLVED…

    I was using IE6…
    I tried with Firefox: it works fast :-))

    (I remember it was slow with FF also before I made the 3 modifs above!)

    I cleaned IE’s cache to test. It is still MUCH slower for me with IE6 & crazy blazing fast with Firefox… Strange browser pb. I suppose. Or has to do with my IE settings somehow…
