Hi Karen,
I was wondering when I’d see this question; thanks for raising it! Is there anything you found in need of improvement or tweaking?
TSF and Extension Manager are incredibly stable, and one shouldn’t fix what isn’t broken.
First, we haven’t recorded prevailing bugs: The past 150 support tickets since the latest update only showed two issues we could address by improving (rather, removing) the code; the rest was guidance, rectifying 101 sitemap misconceptions, non-issues, and other plugins messing up.
And second, in the past five years, neither Google nor Bing added much we can support for improved SEO. So, in that regard, the plugin is done. It’s not perfect, but…
…Any feature I’d like to add, I must build from the ground up and integrated into the plugin carefully, without breaking anything! Things like these are planned, and you can track them on our GitHub: https://tsf.fyi/git/tsf/issues. Mind that I don’t expect to release a major update before Winter 2021 — most features take 3 to 6 months to complete, for I hate shoving in puzzle pieces that don’t fit perfectly: preparation is key to stable code. This mindset is why the last few major updates brought great challenging features while also significantly improving performance and reliability.
As an aside, I’ve moved homes a while back, but due to these “times that try us,” I’m facing substantial delays setting up my new stay-at-home office. For instance, I’ve had a desk-trestle for over a month, but still no desktop! These issues limit me to working from a tiny laptop in a position that strains my back, and such inconvenience is reserved for mandatory maintenance and support only — not innovation. Most of this work is behind the screens, things the WordPress plugin page doesn’t convey: Performing server upkeep, ranting on Twitter, and handling Premium support.
I planned a minor update before northern-Summer hits — hopefully, I have my office ready next month — to address an object caching bug, a script warning, and a minor visual bug on Right-to-Left languages. I’m also considering integration with WP 5.7’s new Robots API. I scheduled a release that supported it right before moving, but it had an issue I couldn’t workaround.
Keep in mind that time doesn’t break code; people do! I still love popping up the good old Notepad.exe once in a while, and I believe that did without an update for over 24 years.
