• Hello everyone, I am having a big problem with the installation of wordpress in my cpanel.

This is what I′ve done so far.

-I′ve downloaded the wordpress zipped package.
-I open it and edit the config.php file and I write the name of my database, the user, and the user password. I save and I zip it again.
-I go to my cpanel and I upload the zipped file on the main folder.

Then it appears the following error:

  • Does your cpanel decompress the zip?

You have to decompress the zip and upload the contents of the WordPress folder to the root directory.

As indicated by jaycbrf you will need to extract the WordPress zip in your public_html folder under cpanel. You also need to make sure that the WordPress files are in the public_html folder and not unzipped into a sub-directory. If so they’ll need to be all copied up to the main public_html folder.

From there you’ll need to ensure you’ve also manually created a new mysql database matching what you have in your wp-config.php config file.

Often cPanel has an option to install WordPress for you and this can be a far easier way to get it installed. I’d suggest looking at your cPanel options and see if there is a WordPress automatic installation option as this will create the database, configure and install WordPress for you.
