When I log into the admin area layout is broken, it is all truncated over to the left hand side. I can not preform any functions at all. I called my hosting company and they said that the actual page is fine. Could you please advise?

BTW, it happened last week too. At that point they,(the hosting co.) were having a problem on the hosting side and when they reset it (I could not get to either part of the page at that point) it was back to normal.

  • Hi,

    Check with these options:

    = Disable all the plugins
    – Upgrade your wordpress to the latest version. If it already upgraded then reinstall wp-includes and wp-admin folders with all files and folders.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I disabled all plugins and I am using the latest version. How do I find wp-includes and wp-admin folders and what are they?

    Thanks for your help,
    Kathy

    Hi,

You can download a fresh copy of the wordpress and install it the blog directory of your site.

wp-includes and wp-admin are the folders for your blog and admin area access. You can find them inside the wordpress installed directory.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I’m having the same problem. kssammons, did Shane’s solution work for you? I did an automatic reinstall of 2.9.2, but it did not fix the problem. When I first log in, the main dashboard page looks fine. Then when I access anything deeper, like try to write a new post, it goes all wonky, like what happens when a website can’t find the CSS file it is looking for so the formatting is wrong. Everything aligns on the left.

Did some more trouble-shooting on this. The layout was broken only using Safari on my laptop. On my iPad and when using Firefox, the layout appeared fine. I “reset Safari” (in the Safari menu) and the layout now appears fine. Sounds like a browser problem more than anything else.

I tried IE and FireFox and they both had the problem.
I am going to try to download a fresh copy.

    Thanks,

I believe the problem was malware.
    thanks,

I think my problem might be somewhat related…I tried going to my admin panel and also the main site last week and in both cases am getting this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/chefdari/public_html/wp-includes/default-filters.php on line 231

If I re-install WordPress will I have to re-customize my theme or will that and it’s widgets remain? How about the content?

Can I just locate the wp-includes file and reload that on the host site?

    my website address is: https://www.chefdarin.com
