I have an iPage domain. I have published pages but when I go to view the site it tells me the site is currently under construction. Any ideas?

  • Does the site have a index.html page in the root? Try deleting that – and so long as WP is installed correctly it should show up then.

Where do i go to find that out?

Your hosting control panel or via FTP/SFTP to your server

Thanks for the info. I am Sorry I am doing this for the first time. I have iPage and I have gone to what i think is my control panel. I cannot find the root. I do not know how to go via FTP/SFTP to the server.

Okay for iPage, after you login, at the top there’s a navigation item called “website”. Click that. Then it goes to a new screen where you can manage your website. Click on the File Manager: this will show all the files on your server “space”. You can then find the “index.html” document that may the issue – feel free to rename it and see if your WordPress site shows up.

Also through Website screen, you can enable FTP for your site. Then you can use an FTP client like FileZilla to interact with your server space and to upload files.

If any of these steps don’t work (FTP or File Manager) let us know and we’ll go from there.

Ok I appreciate the direction. I could not find an index.html file only a index.php file.

Ok I appreciate the direction. But I did not find a index.html file only a index.php file

Is it possible to give us a URL of the construction page? It would help ??

    Hello Woodman13,

Thanks for posting the URL. it is definitely a HTML page with embedded iframe coding. Please check if you have some file(s) with

    home.html
    home.htm
    index.html
    index.htm

    in your root directory.

If it’s not too private, you may share your root directory’s screenshot with us, then we try to identify the file for you.

    Thanks.

There is a home.html in the root directory. I was looking for a index.html. I have been trying to copy a screen shot to the post but i am having trouble doing that. Do I just delete the folder?

    @octaldigital is correct.

You need to delete or rename index.html because by default .html files have priority over .php files on most web servers. WordPress uses an index.php for the home page ??
