If you have a WordPress cookie set in your web browser, anyone using your computer can access the Adminstration Panels of your blog. If you don’t want this to happen (perhaps you are using a public computer or a computer which other people use), you can click this Logout link, and WordPress will delete the cookie from your web browser.

I have two different user names.

I can’t logout and log into my other user name. I clicked the logout button in the Dashboard and it just does not work.

Help!

• Try manually deleting the cookie yourself.

When I click on the log out button I can’t log out. I need this to be fixed because you can’t manually delete cookies off of a public computer. If I give someone a level 10 access to my blog, then that means anyone can go in and mess up my system.

Surely someone knows how to fix this.

Does this happen on every computer? Have you only tried this from one computer (or multiple computers on the same network/system – i.e. school, library, etc)? Logout works just fine for me on multiple sites, from multiple computers @ multiple locations.

I’m willing to bet it’s more of a computer/browser issue.

yes it does.

It happens on every computer.
Try it out:

Register:

Then login:

Then try to log out.

You can’t.

I think we might need some details about your installation, your host and server, which version of WordPress, PHP, MySQL, and so on…

A bit off topic, but your header image has a spelling error.
“I’ve complied the best tips…” should read
“I’ve compiled the best tips…”

Good luck with the log in/out problem.

Thanks I’ll have to fix that.

I just tested this. I registered on your site, logged in, logged out several times. All seems to be okay for me. After logging out, I get redirected back to the login page. All okay on my end here.

Please make sure your problem does indeed exist on more than one machine.

Okay, I just tested it some more. This time, I left the site completely and then followed your “login” link. Sure enough, what I saw was a page as if I was already logged in. But when I tried to navigate (click “dashboard”), I was immediately sent to the login page. That does not happen when I am genuinely logged in.

I think what you are seeing is a cached page.

How do I fix it so that I am not seeing a cached page?

Empty your browser’s cache.

I think what you need is a

Remember my ID on this computer plugin.

I am having the same trouble too. I just don’t feel like emptying out my browser’s cashe everytime I want to log in as a different user.

Does anyone know of a plugin for this?

This way I can have a choice as to wheather or not I want the cookie on my computer to remember me.

can anyone write one for me?
