So since noone in their right mind is going to pay 120+ /yr for just sharing to facebook, we have been using the free version since we didn’t renew our plan a couple months ago..

That said, we are suppose to get 30 ‘shares’ per 30 days (month?).. when does that 30 days reset? If monthly, its saying i have 0 / 30 shares left for the next 30 days (Today, June 1st) and have at the most posted 4 posts today (scheduled..) with at least 2 saying I’m out of free shares.. so what gives? When is it reset?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @ppnsteve,

Thank you for reaching out, and I apologize for any confusion.

Yes, you’re right. With the free Jetpack Social plan, you are indeed entitled to 30 shares per 30 days. This is not based on the calendar month, but rather a rolling 30-day period starting from the day of your first share in this cycle.

For instance, if your first share in the cycle happened on May 10th, you have until June 9th to use your 30 shares, after which your count resets. This count is not reset at the start of each calendar month, but rather 30 days from when you began sharing in the current cycle.

Regarding your current situation of having zero shares left despite sharing only four posts today, it’s essential to note that the share count is based on the number of social media platforms a blog post is shared on, not the number of posts themselves. So, if each of those four posts was auto-shared on Facebook and LinkedIn, this would account for 8 shares (4 posts x 2 platforms = 8 shares).

Scheduled shares also count towards your share limit as soon as they are scheduled. So, if you scheduled future shares today, those would have been deducted from your total shares as well.

You can learn more about that here:

I hope this clarifies how the system works. If you still need assistance or if something is not clear, please let us know.

    Hello @ppnsteve

It’s been one week since this topic was last updated. I’m going to mark this thread as solved. If you have any further questions or need more help, you’re welcome to open another thread here. Cheers!

Need to reopen this for a minute..

It seems my free allotment of shares reset this morning (June 23) and I’ve since made 1 post..

however now its saying I have 4 shares left. I have 1 (facebook) social share configured so it _should_ be 29 shares left, not 4.

WTF is going on here? some scam to get people to pay? or???

Also, your plan pricing for this, without including Twitter, is insanely overpriced. It really need to be $10 – 30 per year with its current abilities.

UPDATE June 27: So a couple of days ago, 18 shares left magically appeared.. I’ve made 12 posts now, shows 6 shares remaining. Remember, I’m only sharing to Facebook, 1 share per post.

    my math: 30 – 12 = 18 (not 6)

UPDATE June 29: And now it shows 0 shares with only 18 or 19 post shares made.

Again, I’m only posting to face book so this is very easy to track and see.. (my manual posts have the title in the text part of the post as well as the site’s link.. no title = Jetpack social’s share) Math: 30 – 18 = 12

As you can guess, I’m not happy here and the responses and support has been completely unacceptable.

Hi @ppnsteve , thanks for your feedback. I’d like to clarify how the 30 days reset works.

It seems my free allotment of shares reset this morning (June 23) and I’ve since made 1 post..

however now its saying I have 4 shares left. I have 1 (facebook) social share configured so it _should_ be 29 shares left, not 4.

The resets happens over a rolling 30-day period, meaning that each day, the systems looks over the past 30 days and the shares made over that period, then deducts those shares from the 30 free shares

For https://www.a4at.com/, at the time of this writing, it has 10 free shares.

OK, thanks for the reply. I don’t like that explanation / system and you should at least publish it so free users know how it works. That said, Its VERY annoying not knowing / or having to guess (and even hope) there are shares left. There has to be a better way ..

Can you, in a future update, provide a running counter of and dates when the shares are used and reset? (perhaps in the admin / settinggs section)

There are more info about Social and how shares work in this FAQ, you can also where to check the share count in this section.
If you enjoy using Social and don’t want the hassle of tracking the number of shares, the quickest solution for now will be be to get plan which allows unlimited shares.

Well thanks for that. Perhaps upping the free shares could be addressed once some of your other social goals are met.

Without Twitter support the current plans are grossly overpriced, so rerpurchacing a plan is out of the question.
