    Hi there,

Love the plugin. Duplicate or cloning a post always results in the images being copied over in reverse order. On the custom post types that we use the plugin on, the order of the images in each post is important (real estate listing).

Also, I’ve noticed that occasionally some images can go missing. Is this something you are aware of? I just tested and doesn’t seem to be happening right now but maybe you know why this could be happening so I can make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.

    Hi @alexcph

We understand that when you clone posts, the image order is reversed on the cloned draft.

Could you provide more details and exact steps on how to reproduce this issue, such as how you are creating your custom post types, and how you are adding the images. Is it using the default ‘image’ block in the default WordPress block editor?

We look forward to hearing from you.

    hello,

We are using a real estate listing theme called WPResidence. THey have custom post types, called ‘properties’.

Images are added via the media library, so they are not inserted into a block like a typical blog post. Images are uploaded into the media library while editing the post/listing.

So the theme recognizes that they are connected to that particular post/listing.

Its images of the house or condo that the listing/post is representing.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Hi,

I’m trying to check this imgur link that you’ve provided but it doesn’t seem to be loading for me.

Since you’ve mentioned that this is a custom theme and CPT, it doesn’t look like the theme ‘WPResidence’ is publicly available on the free themes repository. Is this a paid theme?

We would expect that the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin would be able to clone a standard post or page and have the images show in the correct order.

It’s difficult for us to try and reproduce this issue without the images loading for more information on how the images are added into the ‘properties’ CPT and how it’s being reversed in order when using the ‘clone’ feature, as well as not having access to this specific theme and CPT.

You may want to look at our available developer documentation to see if there’s anything that may help with this specific scenario – https://developer.yoast.com/duplicate-post/overview/

I made a short video to show the bug. Please have a look. Hopefully it wont be too difficult to fix this issue.

    Hey @alexcph,

Thank you for taking the time to provide a video about the issue you experience.

Looking at it, I understand this is custom functionality provided by the theme you have running. As Michael said earlier, we don’t have access to this premium theme to check how this creates the array of property images and how it stores it in the database.

That said, it’s hard to pinpoint for us where this goes wrong. We’d encourage you to (also) reach out to the theme developers. The way Duplicate Post works is that it should duplicate all the post content and postmeta data from post A to B when cloning, but it seems the order isn’t stored or that functionality of it is very custom coded in the theme.

Hope that makes sense. Do let us know if the theme developers can provide more information on this specific part of the property functionality.
